Are certified emails incompatible with PEC mailboxes?

Certified email providers can't deliver to PEC mailboxes. Any alternatives?

The PEC is a certified electronic communication system, originated in Italy and only operational in that country, Switzerland and Hong Kong. Its unique features have hindered its consideration as a standard system. One requirement is that both the sender and the recipient have their addresses validated by the system.

eEvidence is a certified electronic delivery service by email according to the eIDAS Regulation on trust services, providing you with the same or even greater guarantees than the PEC system.

PEC email addresses may have an alternative standard address that accepts regular mail. For example:

  • telecomitalia@pec.telecomitalia.it → only accepts emails from senders registered in the PEC system,
  • telecomitalia@telecomitalia.it → accepts regular mail, enabling you to use eEvidence to register the emails you send to this address.

However, as PEC is a service external to our environment, we advise you to learn more about PEC and to what extent you should use its system for your peace of mind.
